PayPal and Venmo cards now accepted on Apple Wallet

PayPal and Venmo debit and credit cards can now be used with Apple Pay.

PayPal has announced that users can now add their PayPal and Venmo credit or debit cards to their Apple Wallet. Users can start using their new payment options by opening Apple Wallet app and selecting the “add debit or credit card” option. They can then either scan or manually add their PayPal or Venmo credit or debit cards to their Apple Wallet. The new integration means that customers can make payments in-store, online or on apps using Apple Pay while continuing to earn rewards and cashback.

Although users can currently only add cards through the Apple Wallet app, PayPal has stated that users will soon be able to do so directly through the PayPal or Venmo apps. Additionally, PayPal has announced that users will soon be able to use a PayPal Business Debit Card with Apple Pay.

To make in-store purchases, users can use Apple Pay by double-clicking the side button, authenticating with Face ID or Touch ID, and then holding their iPhone or Apple Watch near the reader. For online or in-app purchases, users need to head to the checkout page and tap the Apple Pay button.

The news comes two weeks after PayPal made its PYUSD stablecoin available on Venmo. The stablecoin is backed by deposits, short-term treasury bonds and other cash equivalents, and can be used for payments and transfers.
